Large Fillings with Leakage and Fractured Back Teeth

Diagnosis

Patient #4 has missing lateral incisors, large fillings on her front teeth and fractured back teeth. She wanted teeth that would look good, would last, and would function without pain. Her teeth were sensitive when she bit down on hard foods. The teeth were fractured and the old fillings were leaking.

Treatment

We removed all of the old fillings, decay, and rebuilt the teeth with core material. We recontoured the teeth to make the lateral incisors (canines) appear more natural. We used a lighter shade for the new crowns.

Future Treatment

After we finished the crowns and bridges, she wanted to lighten the lower front teeth. We built her a bleaching tray and significantly improved the shade match through home bleaching.

She has had these crowns for 10 years now and they are doing very well. She eats whatever she wants and is still very happy with her appearance. We see her twice a year, before and after she goes to Florida for the winter. We expect these crowns to last an average of 12 to 14 years.
